At St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, we are proud to provide a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum that inspires children to become curious, confident and enthusiastic learners.

Our Foundation Subjects give children opportunities to explore the world around them, develop new skills and deepen their understanding of the people, places, events and ideas that have shaped our world. Through subjects such as History, Geography, Science, Art, Computing, Design Technology, Music, PE and Spanish, children build a rich body of knowledge that they can draw upon throughout their education.

Our curriculum is designed so that learning is connected. Children are encouraged to make natural links between subjects, helping them to understand how knowledge and skills can be used in different contexts. A historical period might inspire artwork; geographical knowledge might support scientific understanding; music might deepen children's appreciation of another culture. These meaningful connections help children to see that learning is not a collection of separate subjects, but a journey of discovery where ideas connect and build upon one another.

Our Learning Powers underpin the way our children approach learning across every subject. We encourage children to develop the attitudes and behaviours they need to become independent, resilient and reflective learners who are willing to ask questions, embrace challenge and learn from their experiences.

Our SMART Values are woven throughout our curriculum and school life. They help children to understand how their learning connects with our Catholic mission and with the way we treat others and contribute to our community. Whether children are working collaboratively, showing respect for different cultures, persevering with a challenging task or reflecting on the needs of others, our values are lived through everything we do.
