Mission and Values

At St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, our Catholic faith is at the heart of everything we do. Our mission is:

Inspired by Christ, Working Together, Achieving Our Best

These words guide the way we learn, pray, work and live together as a school community. They express our belief that every child is created in the image and likeness of God, with unique gifts, talents and potential, and that every child should be given the opportunity to belong, achieve and thrive.

Inspired by Christ

We follow the example of Jesus in all that we do.

Being Inspired by Christ means placing Jesus and the Gospel at the heart of school life. Through prayer, worship, Scripture and the teachings of the Catholic Church, we encourage our children to develop their relationship with God and to understand how faith can guide the choices they make.

We seek to live as Jesus taught us — with love, kindness, compassion, forgiveness, justice and service. We help children to recognise the dignity of every person and to understand that we each have a responsibility to care for others and for God's creation. Through Catholic Social Teaching, our children learn that faith is not simply something we talk about; it is something we live through our actions.

Working Together

We are stronger when we work together as one community.

Being Working Together means creating a strong sense of belonging. Every child, family and member of staff has a valuable contribution to make to our school community. We work in partnership with our children, families, parish, governors, the Christus Catholic Trust and our wider community. We listen to one another, respect different perspectives and celebrate the unique gifts and experiences that each person brings.

We encourage our children to understand that we are part of something bigger than ourselves. Through the Catholic Social Teaching principles of community, solidarity, participation and the common good, we help children to recognise their responsibility to support others and make a positive difference.

Achieving Our Best

We have high expectations because we believe every child can flourish.

Being Achieving Our Best means striving for excellence in everything we do. We want every child to discover their talents, develop their knowledge and skills, persevere when learning is challenging and take pride in their achievements.

We believe that success looks different for every child, but that every child deserves to be challenged, supported and encouraged to reach their full potential. Our commitment to high expectations, consistency and fun for all creates an environment where children feel safe to take risks, learn from mistakes, celebrate success and develop a lifelong love of learning.

Belong. Achieve. Thrive.

Our mission and our aims come together in our commitment to ensure that every child at St Joseph’s can:

BELONG — I am known, valued, loved and an important part of our community.

ACHIEVE — I am encouraged and supported to discover my gifts and achieve my very best.

THRIVE — I am nurtured in faith, learning and wellbeing so that I can flourish and make a positive difference to others.

At St Joseph’s, we want childhood to be filled with faith, purpose, possibility and joy. We want our children to leave us with strong foundations in faith and learning, confidence in who they are, compassion for others and the courage to use their gifts in the service of others. Together, we strive to create a school where faith inspires action, everyone belongs, high expectations are the norm, and learning is consistent, purposeful and fun.

Inspired by Christ. Working Together. Achieving Our Best.
